The new website for the BioDive4Soil research project is now live. Visit biodive4soil.info to learn more about the project, the participating institutions, the various work packages, and the latest developments surrounding the nationwide baseline survey of soil biodiversity.

How much life is there in Germany’s soils—and how can their biological condition be assessed? BioDive4Soil will be exploring these questions in the coming years. Different habitats and land-use types will be studied at approximately 250 sites. The survey will include earthworms, springtails, mites, nematodes, fungi, and bacteria, as well as numerous site- and environmental-specific factors.

As part of the research consortium, gaiac is contributing to various work packages—from coordination and the selection of suitable study sites to field surveys and the subsequent analysis of the extensive biodiversity data.

While preparations for the next sampling campaign are already underway, the new project website now offers a central hub for following BioDive4Soil and its progress.
