The recently published report on the UBA project, ‘Ausbau und Weiterentwicklung bodenbezogener Indikatoren für die nationale und EU weite Berichterstattung zur Klimaanpassung und zum Klimaschutz, FKZ 3722 74 201 0’, provides comprehensive documentation of existing soil-related indicators at the national and EU levels. Additionally, it proposes specific indicators for the subject areas of ‘soil organic matter’ and ‘soil biodiversity’ for nationwide monitoring. The gaiac research institute is pleased to have made an important contribution to the further development and establishment of the topics of ‘soil biodiversity’ and ‘soil-related indicators’ through its work. The results strengthen the scientific basis for decisions relating to soil protection and climate policy.
