This year, the gaiac research institute has again carried out the monitoring of 16 Cologne urban water bodies on behalf of the Stadtentwässerungsbetriebe Köln (StEB). We have been continuously investigating these waters since 2014 with the aim of determining the limnological status of these waters under mid-summer conditions in order to make an assessment of the water quality, particularly with regard to blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). This will allow documentation of long-term changes in these waterbodies after restoration activities, and the development of appropriate future management strategies.
