Entwicklung und Anwendung ökologischer Modelle für die Risikobewertung

Mechanistische Effektmodellierung

Die ökologische numerische Modellierung wird für die Umweltrisikobewertung von Pflanzenschutzmitteln immer wichtiger. Modelle können z.B. zur Unterstützung der Auswertung experimenteller Studien sowie zur Extrapolation von experimentellen Ergebnissen auf komplexe Feldsituationen eingesetzt werden.

gaiac verfügt über langjährige Erfahrung in der dynamischen Modellierung und bietet die Anwendung, Anpassung und Entwicklung von Simulationsmodellen für die Umweltrisikobewertung und das Risikomanagement an.

Unsere Toolbox

Effektmodelle:

  • TKTD-basiertes Modell-Framework GUTS (letale Effekte)
  • DEB-TKTD Ansatz (sub-letale Effekte)

Individuenbasierte Populationsmodelle (IBMs):

Ökosystemmodelle:

  • StoLaM (Stoichiometric Lake Model): ein komplexes, dynamisches Gewässergütemodell für Seen und Flachgewässer inklusive Module für Zooplankton und Phytoplankton
  • Phytoplanktonmodell als Baustein im Seenmodell StoLaM, einsetzbar für die Modellierung von Algen vom Biotest im Labor bis zum Ökosystem (beinhaltet das Modul für pelagische Mikroalgen, EFSA Scientific Opinion on TKTD models, 2018)
  • DaLaM (individuenbasiertes Daphnia-Populationsmodell unter Freilandbedingungen als gekoppeltes Hybrid-Modell von GUTS, IDamP, und StoLaM)
  • STREAMcom (DEB-IBM basiertes Community-Modell für Fließgewässer, beinhaltet Organismen wie Eintagsfliegen, Amphipoden, Asseln, Schnecken, u.a.)

Unsere mechanistischen Populations- und Ökosystemmodelle...

  • kombinieren Kompartimentenmodelle, TK-TD Effektmodelle und individuenbasierte Modelle, um Effekte auf Populationsebene unter Freilandbedingungen aus Labortoxizitätstests vorherzusagen
  • verknüpfen zeitvariable Exposition und Effekte
  • werden anhand von Labortests, Mesokosmosstudien im Freiland oder Feldstudien getestet
  • ermöglichen eine quantitative Bewertung direkter, indirekter und verzögerter Effekte sowie ihrer ökologischen Wiedererholung
  • ermöglichen die Simulation variabler, artspezifischer ökologischer Szenarien (von Labor- bis Freilandbedingungen), einschließlich dynamischer Ressourcen, Klima- oder Wetterbedingungen und räumlicher Dimensionen
  • erlauben die kombinierte Simulation von natürlichen und anthropogenen Stressoren

Unser mehrstufiger Modellierungsansatz

Effektmodelle

Zur Modellierung von letalen Effekten auf Individuen verwenden wir toxikokinetisch-toxikodynamische (TK-TD) Modelle und insbesondere den GUTS-Ansatz (General Unified Threshold model of Survival), der mehrere TK-TD-Modelle in einem Konzept integriert und die Simulation der Mortalität unter vordefinierten Annahmen ermöglicht.

Darüber hinaus bieten Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB)-Modelle eine konzeptionell stimmige Methode zur Interpretation subletaler Effekte auf wichtige individuelle Prozesse wie Wachstum und Reproduktion (DEB-TKTD-Ansatz).

Populationsmodelle

Wir simulieren Populationen unter Feld- und Laborbedingungen. Dazu verwenden wir individuen-basierte Populationsmodelle (IBMs), die eine direkte Übersetzung chemischer Effekte auf organismischer Ebene in Reaktionen auf höheren Ebenen biologischer Komplexität (Populationen und Lebensgemeinschaften) ermöglichen.

Ökosystem-Modelle

Wir modellieren Lebensgemeinschaften in stehenden Gewässern für Phytoplankton, Zooplankton, aquatische Insekten und andere Invertebraten. Sowohl einfache als auch komplexe Ökosystemmodelle und hydrodynamische Modelle können kombiniert werden, um eine geeignete Umgebung zu schaffen, die die wichtigsten biologischen und physikalisch-chemischen Randbedingungen enthält (StoLaM-Modell).

Wir entwickeln auch räumlich explizite und individuenbasierte Populationsmodelle in Fließgewässern, deren Lebensgemeinschaften relevante Stellvertreterarten aus taxonomischen Gruppen wie Eintagsfliegen, Amphipoden, Asseln, Schnecken und Fischen enthalten (STREAMcom-Modell).

Das von gaiac entwickelte prozessbasierte GraS-Modell ermöglicht Analysen und Prognosen der Vegetationsdynamik in realen Landschaften in Abhängigkeit von unterschiedlichen Stressoren sowie verschiedenen Managementmaßnahmen.
